"My name is Olivia Ratcliffe, I am based in Manchester and you will probably see me busting some moves at the Depot. I fell in love with climbing at the age of 6 and have been creating memories and experiences ever since. I have always loved training hard and pushing my limits. As a kid, this was in competitions. My hard work paid off and I was regional champion 8 times and gained a place on the GB Junior Climbing Team for a number of years. Climbing has also pushed my limits mentally, when I'm exhausted after 11 pitches of climbing The Chief in Canada, to facing my fears deep water soloing in Mallorca. Its tested my patience and persistence during times of injuries and made me stronger, both as a climber and as a person.
I now find myself pushing my limits outside. I find its a different type of climbing. Outside you have to have a different mindset. My instinct is telling me to be scared, to not fall off, but the psyche is telling me to go for it. I love that climbing pushes me mentally and physically and I get to enjoy the many varying view on the way. One of my favourites places being Squarmish in Canada as this is where I discovered climbing. Another has to be the Peaks. Although its so dependant on conditions, I love the variety. I love how one day a climb can feel nails and the next its easy. My favourite climb has to be Gorilla Warefare (7a) which I recently ticked 4 months post ankle break. Then theres the forrest of Fontainebleau. Even if it did break me the last time I went, I love that shear amount of good climbs there are and the pastries are incredible!
I cannot wait for the adventures I have planned and where climbing is going to take me."
